Labrador Retriever: A Dog Owner's Guide
The Labrador Retriever is a strongly built and very active dog. A Lab is easy to train and very good with children and other dogs; it is good natured, loyal and hardworking. Employed as guide dogs, the Labrador Retriever is a good "sniffer" dog, able to detect drugs and explosives. Labs are good-tempered, very agile and make a devoted companion, who has a strong will to please. In this program, Louise Hill, a championship breeder, joins veterinarian Bryan Pooley and animal behaviorist Claire Arrowsmith to take viewers step-by-step through all the stages of Labrador Retriever ownership, including: what to look for in a breeder, choosing the right puppy from a litter, puppy-proofing your home, transporting your Labrador, what to do when you get home, toilet training, puppy's first visit to the vet, exercise routines, the importance of socialization and training, and taking your Labrador abroad. 07/10DE IJSCA 50 min.
